Config Cisco 837 router for ADSL

by jturner . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

I have been trying to set up a Cisco 837 modem/router on my Wanadoo France ADSL connection, to replace the existing Belkin modem but having problems with config.

Initialy the modem could not see the ADSL connection (due to our distance from the exchange, I guess 6KM) but changing the noise value on ATM0 sorted that out.

With the config shown below, using Cisco SDM I can only get the ping test to work if I enter the gateway address of 193.253.160.3 (which remains fixed on the Belkin modem) into the user defined box of the test panel. The WAN IP address on the Belkin modem changes whenever it is reset (obtained dynamically from ISP?) so I presume the Cisco modem would do this also?

Existing settings that work with Belkin modem:-

Wan IP Address (changes on reset) 86.214.218.236
Subnet Mask 255.0.0.0
Gateway 193.253.160.3
Primary DNS 80.10.246.130
Secondary DNS 80.10.246.3

!This is the running config of the CISCO router: 10.10.10.1
