    HI,
I am a recent new administrator. And I had a user who had a a mapped drive to there File server on the domain from here XP Home laptop. But we are in a domain invironment. How was she able to get access if she is not able to log on to the domain with home edition. Now I need to get it back to the way it was but she is unable to acces the file server even after i have moved it back to her desk where she said she was able to connect before with her laptop.

Someone may have set her laptop to access the server using the net use command with a persistent option. This will allow a non-authorized computer to automatically log-on using the domain password. Just fill in your info in hte parenthesis and use the same switches.

      net use w: \\(ip address or netbios name)\d password:(domain administrator) /user:(domain name)\administrator /persistent:yes

Map her to her share, once the connection is made. Every time she boots, she should be authorized and mapped back onto the server.
