The machine has been set to "Automatically Restart" on severe startup error.

Start in SafeMode, (if it won't start to SafeMode, please post an update in this thread or email directly to me). Right click on My Computer, choose Properties, then choose the Advanced Page, StartUp and Recovery, uncheck Automatically restart. . .

While in Safe Mode, look at the System, Security, and Application event logs to determine what is likely to be causing the failure to start, (likely a service failure), make the necessary adjustments, Shut down properly to Power Off, Restart.

This sounds like a hardware failure. I know you don't want to here it but any time you move a computer this can happen. To rule this out, open up the PC and check that everything in tight.

Seems to me that when you moved the PC, you may have bumped it somehow causing the drive to crash. When the read/write heads make contact with the surface of the platter, it renders the drive virtually useless. The reboot is the systematic reset command when the system cannot read the next sector for another command. Imagine if you will a scratched record, it keeps repeating the same tracks over and over. This is what your drive is doing. There is no remedy for this other than replacing thedrive.

managed to get a little more with this and it appears to be a boot sector virus.
ran it through another pc and with a little persuasion got it fdisk format and when tried to create new partition, came up with boot sector virus! new boot disk writeprotected and format/u got the drive to see again. antivirused hdd again ok this time. now managed to load software on!!! hopefully this has sorted it!! if not... new hdd!!###
