CONTACT GROUPS IN WINDOWS 10 MAIL

    by pwd51 ·

I’ve successfully imported my contacts to ‘People’ in Windows 10 Mail but am unable to create a Group of email addresses as was possible in Windows 7 Live Mail.

I’ve followed the procedure in Mark Kaelin’s article of 15/5/2018 as detailed in tech republic’s link:

How to manually set up groups in the Windows 10 Mail app

This works wonderfully following set up but the group disappears after closing Mail. Can anyone advise how to stop this happening please?

Frankly I found Microsoft’s new free email app to be garbage.

I’m comparing it to Outlook and Thunderbird so you can imagine how poorly Windows 10’s Mail compares.

No, I’m not offering a fix for Microsoft’s awful mail app.
Yes, I’m saying to use something else.

If nobody knows or you can’t solve it, consider using another email program like Thunderbird or MS Outlook. Nobody I know uses the Windows 10 Mail app.

WINDOWS 10 MAIL – CONTACT GROUP

        Thanks Kees_B
Having persisted with it for a few weeks I actually quite like the programme and it only needs the Group Contact thing sorting to make it a very user-friendly programme.

Thanks for your suggestion re Thunderbird which I do have but would prefer 10 Mail if there’s a working workaround that will resolve this single issue.

As TechRepublic published the article by Mark Kaelin as per the link in my original post, is there some way of contacting him?

          At the article, click…

Click on Mark’s name, then a new page comes up and I see an email icon.

That said, Microsoft is well known to change how apps that came with Windows work so after a few years many figure out if they need something to work for long, avoid the supplied apps.

I read the article again and found the procedure onerous and prone to forgetting how to make it work. I would take this as a sign to use Outlook or Thunderbird.
