    Converting .vsd to .pdf

Hello! I use Visio 2003 and have used the adobe acrobat print distiller to convert viso files to .pdf’s. However, sometimes in the .pdf file little dollar sign symbols or other little symbol characters appear after the conversion. I can’t delete them using the acrobat tools either. Any idea what is happening and how it can be prevented? It doesn’t happen all the time – just intermittently. Thanks.

It sounds like the conversion is incomplete or has errors. In Distiller you can turn on or off the error reporting. If a file is stopped during conversion because something is missing (can’t embed a font etc.)it will produce an error file with the $ in the file name. Check your conversion settings, Acrobat has a tendency to format for press, the graphics are much higher resolution than needed for laser printing.

Try reducing the graphics resolution in the Distiller PDF properties window.

I played around with the distiller settings and I still get the dollar signs, but I was able to use the text tools this time to delete them. I think your answer is a good starting point to get me in the correct direction.
