One of our domain controllers has had its HD bite the dust. It was a secondary domain controller on a domain that has its primary domain controller on a 2000 server and another secondary domain controller on a 2000 server, total three DCs.
I will be re-building this server from scratch, and will be rejoining the domain. Before I do this I will need to know of the consequences of re-joining the domain with a domain controller that has no AD user information in it.
Will I need to promote it to a domain controller during the installation or will I need to follow another procedure to ensure that we do not lose the AD user information on the primary domain.
The primary domain controller still has the crasshed domains DNS information in it (DC section in AD).
