I am a contract programmer doing mostly mainframe application programming. I have a Computer Science degree and have written code in C++, Java, and VB. I have been approached by an individual who wants me to write software for her kids that they can use for standardized test preparation. My question is, how do I, from start to finish, develop a software package that will mimic something that you would buy off the shelf? Is there a developers package that can be used to create the executables, support files, installer, etc.?
