    CRM – Client/Server Vs Web-Based

    Hi

I’d like to hear your professional experiences and/or opinions on building a sytem (c/s or web) for CRM use. Importantly, consider system performance and response time in view of the following requirement: it is expected to support 1000 concurrent users and be able to process at least 100,000 transactions per hour.

    1) a Web-based system (thin-client)

    2) a client/server (thick-client)

    Your inputs are sought. Thanks

A lot depends on end user location I guess!
      If users are geographically spread:
A Web based system with servers replicated and synch’d with load balancing is ideal.
You could also think of networked servers with dedicated thick clients for very quick responses.
If all 1000 users are located around the same place, you can have load balanced servers with dedicated thick clients.
Sacalability is easy in the dedicated thick client scenario.
      Hope this helps!

Since last 3-4 yeasr CRM road map is very clear towards WEB enabled from a client-server method. Including topmost rated CRM’s to home grown CRM softwares are now web enabling packages
      – which results in lot of saving in IT persons productivity,- Cost of IT (desktops configuration -though thin client)
      – Post-implementation maintainance

By conmnsidering industry recommendations, usage suggest that choose WEB based CRM.
