Data error reading drive

When I boot to windows, It doesn't. It says "Data error reading drive C:" sometimes gives "1962 no operating systems found".Any solution to overcome these plzzz..

Possible problems:

Dead hard drive.

Virus infection that wiped out the Master Boot Record.

Virus infection that wiped out the drive.

Solutions depend on which version of Windows you are running.

For Windows 95, 98, and Me:
Boot from a startup floppy.
At the DOS prompt, run the command
fdisk /mbr

Then run fdisk and verify that your partitions are correct and intact.

Finish by running the command
sys C:

That should fix most problems that are NOT from a dead hard drive.

And to add to Chas, run anti-virus scan after a good boot from the HD !
