Have new XP 1.5 ghz pc with 256 ddr 266 mhz memory and an Intel D815EFV MB.

Ordered two new sticks of 256 ddr 266 mhz from Sky Technology (so to ensure having same memory) but the pc will not recognize them.

According to Intel’s website, the D815EFV uses PC 100/133 SDRAM not DDR RAM.

I am supprissed that you were able to get the DDR DIMMs to fit in the sockets.

Assuming that the motherboard is identified wrong, make sure that the original 256MB DIMM is not registered ram.

I have also seen more than 1 motherboard where you need to enter BIOS setup for the board to recognize new RAM.

I took another look at Intel’s site.
All of the boards that use DDR RAM have only 2 slots.

Most of the SDRAM boards have 3 slots.

The RDRAM boards have 4 slots.
(NOTE: for most P4’s, RDRAM must be installed in matched pairs.

I think you you should go back and re-identify your motherboard. In addition to what TheChas said, this board will support either a PIII or a Celeron processor, neither of which is available in a 1.5GHz model.
