By kinneym_98_98_98 ·

I know the file is there because its the only file on my computer that is fragemented. the file name is INFO2 and its in the RECYCLE folder on my Primary Harddrive. to further this I'm using Win 98se just incase that might help

Try emptying your recycle bin. Right click your bin and choose empty.

I've tried that, its the only file thats left in it. If windows can't see it it can't empty it out.

Fire up a Command prompt
From the Root of the Drive where your Recycle folder is,
CD\Recycler
dir /ah
Choose the Sid that is yours ;-) on NT there may be a couple so it may take you 1 or 2 shots
cd "S-1-5-21-194386351-2042BLAHBLAH"
dir /ah
attrib -h INFO2
del INFO2

Don't delete the INFO2 files located in the Recycle bin. These files are the Recycle Bin Repository files which are used by the the operating system to delineate the contents of the Recycle Bin. The reason you cannot delete the files from windows is that they are system files used the windows.
