i've just finished building a system and everything works fine until the final boot.
windows xp will go to the boot screen and after that the screen just goes black. The computer will work in vga mode but when i try to update the video driver it still will not start. Your help would be very appreciated.The system specs are ECS K7S5A Pro motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512 DDR 2100
40gig WD HD
Nvidia Riva TNT2 AGP
48x burner
16x dvd
300watt ps

This can be very perplexing.

Most likely, your monitor does not support the default refresh rate that XP sets for the video mode.

The 'best' work-around, is to use a newer monitor until you get everything working and all drivers updated.

Then, XP is more apt to properly detect and setup your monitor.

I had to change out my bench monitor as it did not function on new XP installs.
