One possible cause is a dirty print head position sensor.

It may be under the print head, or inside the printer.

Unless you know how to open up, and work on the printer. This is a task for a trained technician.
Keep in mind, that a new printer may cost less than repairing this one.

As a first option, I'd recommend that you take some wd40 and spray it on a rag. Unplug your printer and take the dampened rag and rub it back and forth over the rod that the print head sits on. That rod will often become coated with ink and cause these rough spots where the belt/gears will hang up on. Then use "light" oil (sewing machine oil maybe or even baby oil) and clean off the caustic agents of wd40. Then plug it back in and test.

If all if fine, just keep that rod clean and lubed. Else if the wheels or guide seems misplaced, then it's probably best to take it to a printer repair shop.
