i believe you cannot initiate a dhcp renew from a remote location but it should be done in the local machine.

As workaround, I'm thinking of creating an active directory logon-script that does that. Then remotely, log-off each machine (using winxp's shutdown.exe -l -m \\remotepcname command). The moment the user logs-on, the script executes and renews the dhcp.

Hope this helps.

This is not strictly speaking a direct answer to your question, but why do you need to do this?

Have you changed your addressing range?

The reason I ask is that there is an option in DHCP to force the clients to release there address on shutdown, thus giving them a new IP address every time they reboot.

This can be found under advanced options then windows 2000 options.

We use that here and it proves very valulable.

Hope this helps.

I think all you have to do is to reboot the machines.
