My client machines on the network are running on DHCP. If i ping a machine it returns the proper network suffix e.g. 192.162.50.XXXX ,but when i go onto the machines and check there client machine IP addresses they have given themselves private addresses. Is it possible for a machine to request for an ip from a DHCP server, have the server give the address but not have the client get the IP?
