DISABLE NETWORK NEIGHBORHOOD

By mtorres7 ·
I want to disable "Network Neighborhood" on W2K stations, and the equivalent on XP's.
The purpose is to prevent users to tamper with data. Some users gains access to specific directories, because they are members of a group with the rights. I'm trying to find a way to isolate these users, but I can't exclude them from the group.
Please, help!

This is exactly the reason for creating a group policy. Are you familiar with that?

on your server create a group and put all these "restricted guys " in it . using the management menu restrict them and allow only the directory you wish their access . and also in their settings "lock" the control panel alltogether.

You dont want to use group policy, so you must not be using 2000/2003 server in AD, since that would be so easy to accomplish what you want.

What is your infratructure you are using then? Is this peer to peer or just a non AD domain?
