    Disable shut down only for domain users.

    On XP, how can I disable regular domain users to shutdown? I only want a domain admins to have permission to shut down a pc but not the domain users.

      Use the existing “Users” OU in AD. On that OU, put a group policy for “Disable and remove the Shut Down command” = 1 or on.

      Move the AD Security group “Domain Admins” along w/ others into an OU named “Administration OU” or something. This OU will not have the GP applied to it. Just make sure this OU isn’t nested within the Users OU.

      Depending on the reason for doing this, you might want to consider setting the WOL (wake on LAN) in the BIOS and using an app, or script to conduct a WOL.
      The users can always power off with the power button or pull the plug.
