Disable user from creating shortcuts on network drive

By SpamBot ·
Hi All, my office is on Server 2003 enviroment and all clients on the domain are on XP. We got this irritating problem which certain users keep creating tons of shortcuts on our network drive. Is there anyway to disable user from creating shortcut on the drive while at the same time not taking their Write access away?

Cheers!

educate your Users, sometimes they need a helping hand. Try this and they should eventually get the message.

Create a Batch File and place it in the Root Directory of the Share. You could use Task Scheduler to run it once a week or daily removing the Shortcuts.

@echo off
del /s /q /f *.lnk

goto end

:END
