Disableing internet access to specific users in Win 2k server....

By TigerOracle ·
I am attempting to disable access to the internet to specific users. The problem is I work at a school where the users (students) are using the same machine. The students are divided into morning and afternoon classes some of the students use the internet the appropriatly but some do not need nor deserve the internet. I have tried disableing the machine they student sits at but it is troublesome.

Can anyone tell me a way to disable the users by account?

proxy software

will usually let you set rules on a per user basis. ISA does, and so does Trend Micro.

I don't think it is something you can just set on a workstation where user A has access but user B doesn't

Yeah need a proxy server

W2K doesn't have a proxy service built in to do this. The admin effort to manually change local machine policy all the time is just not worth it.

ISA server would work well in this instance. Coupled with GFI ISA monitoring and reporting tools, you know who accessed what, when and for how long.

Never used the Trend Micro product lowlands suggestion [TZ170?]
