Go to this site and follow the instructions. It should help you to do a complete Fdisk and format so you can get the operating system back in.

Is that WIN95 OSr2 or the older Win95?

Can you use a Win95 Start up instead of WIN98? Also the Fdisk and format.com that you will use are coming from win95 startup disk.

I think it is a FAT16/FAT32 issue means that your going to setup a operating system that is for FAT16 and your drive is already setup as a FAT32.

Your Win95 CD are not a OSR2 and you need a OSR2 version.

To check if i am correct run the setup of Win98 when you used fdisk and format coming from Windows 98 Startup. This will continue thesetup process.

If you run Setup for the retail (non-OSR2) version of Windows 95 and try to install Windows in a folder containing a OEM Service Release version of Windows 95 the error message may appear

The error message can occur if you start your computer using a Window 98 Startup disk, enable CD ROM support and then attempt to install Windows 95

Donot install the retail or OEM (non-OSR2) version of Windows 95 into an existing Windows 95 OSR2 folder.

If you are installing to a hard disk using the FAT16 file system, install to a different folder.

Do not install the retail or OEM version of Windows 95 on a hard disk using the FAT32 file system

If you made your boot floppy from a windows 98 system, using windows 98's "Create a boot Floppy" or even in some cases simply formatting the floppy as system bootable from a 98 machine, you have a copy of dblspace.bin or drvspace.bin on the floppy!

do the following: (assuming the floppy is in A drive)
DIR A: /ah

/ah means show Attributes, Hidden

you should have:
IO.sys and MSDOS.sys

IF you see DRVSPACE BIN or DBLSPACE BIN on the floppy then that is where the dblspace/drvspace error is coming from.

if you have dblspace or drvspace on the floppy, then when you boot, it is automagically loaded whether needed or not. (its a win98 addition to help users that don't know what they are doing)

you need to delete thedrvspace.bin or dblspace.bin file from the floppy and THEN you can use it to boot your system and continue the install process.

WIN98 startup disks do not work to load WIN95.
To load WIN95 use a DOS (5 or 6) , a WIN31 or a WIN95 startup disk, then load WIN95.
