Disk Error

By hjthom0758 ·
I installed a ASUS A7V8X-MX, K400 motherboard on my system with an Athlon XP 2100 plus processor. I get a disk error message. I have loaded Win 2000 OS on the system without problems but when it restarts I get disk error. Is the motherboard or processor bad or am I overlooking something?:

after POST says "disk error press any key to restart", after pressing any key, "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter", I've done that several time problem is not resolved.

Just a thought, you might have overlooked the boot options in Bios, make sure it is C, if CDrom drive or floppy will look for a disk at boot up,
hope that helps Conchitta

It sounds like you have a faulty hard drive, one time I got a bad one out of the sealed box. It gave disk errors, but would boot. It would then immediately warn me to back up my date drive failure
was certain. If you have an extra hard drive try swapping.

Thanks it helped not a bad drive, but bad cable.
