Check the system log portion of event viewer for bad sectors on your hdd (Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Event Viewer); sector problems are usually logged in win2000.

If there are bad sectors then replace the drive. If not then you have other issues with the software; either permissions, or locked files.

This error tells me what?

{Lost Delayed-Write Data} The system was attempting to transfer file data from buffers to \Device\HarddiskVolume3. The write operation failed, and only some of the data may have been written to the file.

I read that SP2,and SP3 solved these disk write errors?.but I cannot install them!

If the drive is less than 3yrs old I'd be more concerned with why your getting disk errors.

Replacing the drive without knowing whether the problem is caused by a virus, program you've installed, whether you've made changes to the system or whether the drive is truely just going bad on it's own. These are questions that need answering otherwise you could have the same problem on a new drive.

Their are lots of drive utilities that will help you determine this. The best being the drives manufactures own utility. You'll need to get it from their website.

Since you can't download anything & before you buy a new drive, why not wipe the drive & start over first. If you have any data you what to save try backing it all up on disks if youcan.

If your able to Fdisk & reformat & reload your OS then get your drive utility & run it. But if you can do any of this it likely isn't the drive.

Also before you do anything alse try running scandisk & then defrag, shutdown any & all running tasks, screensavers, antivirus, firewalls, modem, any schedualed tasks, programs that check for updates like Realplayer, Windows, antivirus, scandisk will show you any bad sectors if you can get it to run.
