Display crumbles in Excel '97

By oscar.packeer ·
When using MS Excel '97 the screen (display) seems to crumble & get distorted. The whole display will eventually be illegible & the only way out is to re-boot. Any reason why this happens?? & what is the fix??

Hi I am not sure but this sounds like the product of a Virus.

Let me know how you get on.

Best Regards

This is definitely NOT a virus situation even though it certainly has all the markings of one???

Does F5 help at all? How about opening another app, full screen, to force the screen to redraw? If the new window looks OK, how does Excel look when you close the new window? If you just quit Excel, does the problem go away? Can you duplicate this problem with ANY other program? If the ONLY way to clear up the problem is to reboot, I would look at the operating system. What version of Windows are you using? Older versions of Win95 had a memory handling problem, and didn't release memory properly. I've seen a similar problem to yours with Excel 2000. Replacing the video card fixed it for awhile, but the issue returned. Bottom line: we could use more info.
