Display last logged in user

By robin ·
When a user logs out, the Client32 displays the name of the last logged in user. How do I stop this, both on Windows 95 and NT4?

I guess it is a registry setting, but what exactly?

Thanks,

Robin

WARNING:Well, we all know what could happen if you play in the registry....BACK IT UP BEFORE Attempting this Reg fix!

You can edit the registry @
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Novell\Location Profiles\Services\{1E6CEEA1-FB73-11CF-BD76-00001B27DA23}\Default]
"Save On Exit"=dword:00000001 To remember
"Save On Exit"=dword:00000000 To forget

You can also set the
"UserName" to whatever you want

NOTES:
-Does not take effect till after 1st successfull logon and reboot

Good luck!

Windows 95:

Go to the registry to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
Add a new String Value called: "DontDisplayLastUserName" and set the Data value to "1." A data value of 1 will hide the field, 0 will show the field.

Note: this works on initial login only. When executing a subsequent login, this setting is ignored.

Windows NT:

Go to the registry to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Add a new String Value called: "Name:DontDisplayLastUserName" of type: REG_SZ and data value of 1. A data value of 0 will show the name field.

Robin,
Messing with the registry is an option, but with Novell client, you don't need to. First, go to Novell Client Properties. Click on Tab - Location Profiles.
Highlight Default, then click Properties button.
Click Properties button in next window, and Voila! You can uncheck the option 'save profile after successful login.'

Hope you could follow that... :)
