DNS address affect my LAN

by dgkem06 . Updated 18 years ago

It is going for while. I don’t understand what is going on. I have LAN 12 computers (Windows XP Pro SP2) with SBS 2K SP4 and 3 printers connected to LAN. Connection to Internet is partial T1 around 800 kbps. All workstations obtain IP address automatically via DHCP from the Server. If DNS addresses obtained automatically when I go on any website it is doing this very slow and LAN access very stable and quick. But as soon as I change my DNS settings to use following DNS server addresses and put addresses provided by my ISP I can get to same websites almost instantly. But there is a catch, at some point I will lose my ability to access my LAN resourses such as mapped drives and printers. Is anybody ran in to the similar problem? Please advise. Thank you.
