DNS Entry Keeps Reappearing

by taz1nl . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

Hello,

The old IP static ip address of a client laptop (which as far as I know only
has one nic) that was manually removed from the ROOT dns server as it was no
longer needed.

The laptop was given a new static ip address which is set to ‘register the
connections addresses in dns’ checked on the client so it should
automatically register itself in dns. But the
old ip address keeps reappearing on the dns server. The new ip address which I
gave the laptop cannot be seen anywhere on the dns server.

And if we do an nslookup on the client machine, it shows the old ip address
that was already removed from the root dns server by flushing the server dns cache and deleting the old record.

So how do I prevent the old address from reappearing in dns, and why isn’t
the new ip address registering itself in dns?

The ip range is 172.x.x.x

Thanks,
Taz
