DNS Error

by benalao . Updated 17 years, 11 months ago

We get an error page most times we tried to open our corporate website (say, www.company.com). The error page indicates that their exists DNS Errors.

Our LAN’s domain name is “company.com” while our website is “www.company.com”. We have 2 domain controllers (DC) configured as DNS servers within the LAN. A DHCP assigns IPs to workstations, and the IPs of the internal DNS servers listed among the primary and prevered DNS servers so assigned by the DHCP. We also have a router configured as a gateway.

Why can’t the www.company.com resolve to its actual IP address (external)? Is the problem related to the common “company.com” that occurs in both domain names?

We only have this problem when we’re browsing from within the LAN – visitors from outside the LAN don’t have problem browsing the site.

What can be the reasons for this? Can anybody help with some helpful configuration hints?
