DNSSearchOrder

I have a workstation That thinks it is the DNS host. I've never seen this happr=en. How can you tell thw desktop to search for the actual DNS. In other works when I do a network diagnostic, The DNSSearhOrder fails, and the DNSHostName comes back as the desktop.

I take it you are running Windows 2000 pro as a standalone computer..or is it part of a network. Please provide a few more detqils. Was it always like this. Did you ever have it set up properly?

Actually, The workstation is running XP, but the problem was resolved. It seems that the was a problem with connectivity to the network. We were fooled into thinking that the was a "live" connection as indicated by the indicator lite on theNIC card. So confirm my suspicions, I re-ran ethernet back to the desktop and viola! Issue fixed
