Do i have to purchase CAL's for Exchange with Miscrosoft SBS?

By DownRightTired ·
Im in the process of setting up a network for a small to medium size organization that will support approx 50 users on 3 continents. Im trying to decide between MS Server 03 + exchange + CAL's
and Microsoft SBS + IAS, or possibly setting up a linux mail server, which im reluctant to do because im pretty inexperienced with linux. Im confused about how the CALs work with SBS. Any help would be much appreciated.

but Exchange doesn't need it's own CALs. you still need either device or user CALs depending on what your users will do. You also need Terminal Services CALS if you intend to install a terminal server for applications.

Your limited to a single forest single domain with SBS. You can not establish trust relationships with any domain with SBS. You can have other domain controllers and member servers with SBS e.g. DCs in remote office locations for local log on but those DCs can not be child domains.

I'd go with the SBS Premium Edition with ISA 2004.
