Domain Users cannot add network printers

By is ·
I have users getting the following error:

"You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer."

This issue just started this week. In the past domain users have had no issue adding network printers. If I grant admin rights the user they can add the printer.

I have checked the security settings on the printer and the Everyone group has access. This problem exists for all 3 of my printer servers.

local permissions

I'm assuming that your users have the normal default user access to their local PC's... the issue maybe that they need to download drivers from the print server and in order to "install" the printer locally...

you could create a GPO under local policies - computer configuration - user rights assignment - load and unload device drivers... add the users to this group which has the permissions via this GPO? You'll notice that the default setting for this is that only members of the local administrators group have this privilege...

Yes the users have normal default user access, and they have for years. They are not installing the printers as local printers but as network printers.

Ill take a look at the GPO settings you mentioned.

I tried your local GPO setting for authenticated users and can report no change in my problem.
