This is not Notes related, but depends on your OS. You can think of your Notes server software as behaving as any other normal program. In NT you can probably get the server to start automaticaly by editing the autoexec.bat.
But you will have to skip pw on starting the Notes server.
I agree with the first answer, it depends on the OS you are runing Notes Server on. Lotus has a good web site with a lot of good info on this topic, wwww.lotus.com . Take a look at technical paper #147423 for Windows NT and #153701 for Unix, hope this helps you out!
R4? Look at http://www.notes.net in the “Cafe” or at the Lotus knowledgebase. I know it’s in one of those two places. I have looked at doing it but decided not to because of several bugs that appear (search those same DB’s). I chose to place it in the startup folder and use AutoAdminLogon (MS knowledgebase) to automatically logon at boot. Be sure that the logon you use has a password-protected screensaver active so you don’t compromise security doing it.
You must select “Custom Install” during the Domino install process and select “Notes Service Install”; this will automatically install it as an NT service. This is a new install feature. (If Domino is already installed, you have to re-run the install process. After the reinstallation is complete, select “Custom Install” and choose just the install as service option.)

Once it is a service, configure the service to start automatically from the NT control panel.
