Downloading music on a work network

    Locked

    by friendsote ·

Hi all.. I have been asked to download music on our network so that it can be used at an external Exhibition. I have asked whether or not the Exhibitors have a licence for them to use this music, but to no avail. Does anyone have any information on this or any pitfalls I may be unaware of? Much appreciated. Based at a charity in London, UK.

I am assuming your compnay is in the UK as well. Definetely seek legal advice from your companys general counsel, regarding your countries copyright laws. Also review any electronic use policies within your company, you dont want to be the one violating either.

In the US, the copyright laws towards international copyright protection states:

There is no such thing as an ?international copyright? that will automatically protect an author?s writings throughout the entire world. Protection against unauthorized use in a particular country depends, basically, on the national laws of that country. However, most countries do offer protection to foreign works under certain conditions, and these conditions have been greatly simplified by international copyright treaties and conventions. For further information and a list of countries that maintain copyright relations with the United States, request Circular 38a, International Copyright Relations of the United States.
