Drive imaging

By zlitocook ·
What is your favorite imaging program and why?
I use Ghost server with Ghost 10, it lets me image computers from my desktop. And will let me update, create new images on the fly and reimage a computer that is not in use.
I know about Acroins and drive image by power quest but have only used them on test computers. They seem limited compared to Ghost.

Ghost is my first choice in a Windows environment

by stress junkie In reply to Drive imaging

Let's face it. Ghost is an industry standard. It's great for creating images to restore computers and it's great for making daily backups.

On the other hand in a Unix environment you have tools that come with the operating system. You don't have to purchase anything. In a Unix environment the dd command or the tar command can completely handle whatever you want to do.

For the low budget...

I have been pretty happy with Drive Image XML

It doesn't have nearly the set of bells and whistles - can't even manipulate partitions with it - But it does a decent job a simple image capture and restore. It has a fairly friendly interface and (currently) it is free.
