    Drive imaging

What is your favorite imaging program and why?
I use Ghost server with Ghost 10, it lets me image computers from my desktop. And will let me update, create new images on the fly and reimage a computer that is not in use.
I know about Acroins and drive image by power quest but have only used them on test computers. They seem limited compared to Ghost.

Ghost is my first choice in a Windows environment

Let’s face it. Ghost is an industry standard. It’s great for creating images to restore computers and it’s great for making daily backups.

On the other hand in a Unix environment you have tools that come with the operating system. You don’t have to purchase anything. In a Unix environment the dd command or the tar command can completely handle whatever you want to do.

I have been pretty happy with Drive Image XML

It doesn’t have nearly the set of bells and whistles – can’t even manipulate partitions with it – But it does a decent job a simple image capture and restore. It has a fairly friendly interface and (currently) it is free.
