dual boot ME/XP

By czastawn ·
How is it possible to set up dual boot for 2 hard drives, one with ME and one with XP? Currently, if both are plugged in, an error occurs "there is a problem with your system"...

Install the Me drive as the primary master drive with the primary partition set as active in fdisk.

Install the XP drive as Primary slave, or if desired, secondary master or slave.
No partitions on the XP drive can be set as active.

Make surethat the drive jumpers are set correctly.

You may need to re-install XP from within Me to set up the dual boot configuration.

Alternetly, you may be able to copy the boot files from the root folder of the XP drive over to the Me drive (C:) root folder.
You will then need to modify the boot.ini file so that it recognizes both OS's in their proper locations.

You can find a good list of the boot.ini commands at
Or, search Microsoft's site on the terms boot.ini and bootcfg
