DVD drive not detected

I just installed a new DVD drive in my computer. When I go into Windows Explorer, the DVD drive was not detected. I have another CD ROM drive installed too. I'm using WIN98.

anyone can help?

Your motherboard may not know the difference between a CD drive and a DVD drive.

Set the IDE channel that the DVD drive is connected to to either Auto-detect, or other.

Next, you may need updated IDE drivers for your motherboard.

If this isa name brand system, check with the manufacture for support.
Otherwise, check with the motherboard manufacture.

Make sure that the jumpers on the back of the drives are set correctly.
If your CD and DVD drives are on the same cable, 1 should be jumpered to master, the other to slave.

The guy before his idea might work but you might want to "play around" with the jumper setting on the DVD drive I dont know if you ever did that to begin with so just try that!
