ECC Ram

By mrmsvw ·
I have 128mb PC 133 ECC ram and plan on using it on an Asus K7M board with an Athlon 800 processor, would there be any problem with doing this?

I do not forsee any problems, just make sure that you have the memory bus set correctly to handle the 133 speed. You can hop the 800 up to run faster, but it is not recommended. I have seen 800's running close to 1 gig with no problems, but cooling them poses quite a problem. I also sugest that you use an AGP video card instead of a PCI. The AGP is more tolerant of tweaking the voltages of the cpu and the speeds of the busses. I would not run the AGP no faster than 112 as heating problems can occur.

No you will not have any problems. If you already have the board and the mainboard the following suggestion will not help you but if you dont have it yet i will HIGHLY recommend going with an Athlon Thunderbird and the new asus motherboard or abit which also has support for IDE RAID AGP 4x and all the latest and greatest.
