You have not mentioned on which OS u r using. However, it is the problem is just bqz of using multiple protocols in dialup network. Plz remove IPX/SPX and NetBEUI from dialup connection properties. If problem presist let me know.

Have fun :)

you didnt say if you are part of a network. Do you have a network card installed? If so - remove it, and reboot.

Hi,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
Operating System is Windows98. I have created the dial up networking connection through dial up networking.
I simply do make new connection, name connection add the telephone number and away i go.
I then click on Internet options and select always dial my default connection in there and when i open I.E. 6 i can normally connect.
I do delete the protocol NETBEUI and IPX which you refer to and also take off log on to network to make my initial connection faster.
The problem i think i was experiencing was because the actual network server i was trying to connect to was down. Would i be right in assuming this could be why i was getting the error i referred to earlier.
I also get the same error message within e-mail client which is oulook express periodically but have recently found this comes up when the ISP Mail server is down.
