Establishing a Netmeeting link

by j.logan . Updated 16 years, 9 months ago

Hi,

I am trying to establish a Netmeeting link between two desktops that run Win98se. (I could use an XP as the client, but I do not want to deal with any more headaches than I have to.) I have used Netmeeting before to connect to a computer but never one behind a router. I have a Linksys BSFR41 router on both ends. Is this even possible with Netmeeting or should I go with some other remote access freeware?

Microsoft says I have to “pass through primary TCP connections on ports 522, 389, 1503, 1720, and 1731” and “pass through secondary UDP connections on dynamically assigned ports (1024-65535).” Is this “pass through” the same thing as “port forwarding” my router manual talks about?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
J. Logan Blewett
