Event ID 5723 & Exchange 2003

By jpbabiera ·
I am getting the following error on the event log on my Domain Controller. Event ID 5723. The problem is that the server in question is our front-end MS Exchange 2003 server. Researching online suggested that computers with this problem should just be disjoined then rejoined to the domain. I am weary how this will affect our exchange server. My question is whether I should go with what is being said online and have the server disjoin then rejoin the domain or is there an alternative? What are some considerations that I should take (other than making a backup) prior to doing so?

The environment: servers running on windows 2003 in a windows 2000 native domain functional level. The domain controller is running win2k3 sp2. Have a frontend and backend exchange servers both running win2k3 & IIS sp2.

Event Type: Error

The session setup from computer 'server' failed because the security database does not contain a trust account 'server$' referenced by the specified computer.
