Exchange 2003 not connecting port 25

By eirianprice ·
I am running a server 2003 ent with exchange 2003.

I am able to telnet to port 25 directly to the server 192.168.7.2 but when trying to telnet 25 to router 192.168.7.254 this doesnt work even though the port is forwarded properly. it does work for port 80 though.

im not getting any email as no one can see the exchange server from my public IP.

any ideas?

Turn telnet of and delete it out of your /win32/drivers/etc/protocols

Telnet is plain text.
use RDP port 3389 or RDWC port 443 beter yet set up so that you cannot remote access from the internet.

Also if you have Verizon or most other carriers they block certain ports in their switching hardware.

To my knowledge though you can use verizon if you pay em more to have business class service.

To my knowl Comcast this is a free upgrade

Call your isp and turn telnet off. Get a hardware appliance to firewall your mailserver too. I've used Endian and it works and configures nicely
