Exchange 2003 (single server) with DMZ.

By dougm ·
I am currently migrating an instance of Exchange 2003 for a customer of ours. It was originally setup on the main file and SQL server, needless to say this is kind of messy.

There is one server available to run Exchange for this company, they are not able to purchase additional hardware to run this on.

I have formatted the old operating system and installed Win 2K3, and will be looking to use a DMZ once Exchange is installed.

1. Are there any articles microsoft or otherwise that highlight the best practice for such an installation?

2. Since the server will reside in the DMZ and will still need access to the LAN for authentication I will be using 2 NICs, one with a LAN and one with a DMZ address. Are there any issues I need be concerned with regard to multi-homing the Exchange server?
