Exchange & ADSL/dynamic IP

By netjustin ·
Are there any Exchange administrators out there running ES2003 with a dynamic IP address on the WAN side of the firewall? My intent is to accomodate a user's in-house *and* external messaging needs in this scenario. We have an existing e-mail service in place via the ISP, and I am concerned about moving e-mail service in-house for the following reasons:

-Public MX records & incoming mail to a dynamic IP address...
-Sending mail over a over potentially blacklisted IP address... our provider also provides residential DSL. I would wager that there's no difference between IP addresses used in business/resi.

To circumvent these trouble spots, is it viable (or even possible) to place ES2003 as follows:

Sender -> Sender Mail Server-> Our ISP Mail Server -> *Our Exchange Server -> Recipient

And have exchange update itself once every X minutes? Are we better off just using colocation for the Exchange server?
