Exchange server headach

By JSerrago ·
My boss has decided to change the name of the company.

He is also wants us to have all new email addresses. I am trying to get my exchange 2003 install to accept emails from a new domain. and creat new email account to refelct the new internet domain.

I would like some help wiht the pitfalls here I am sure someone else had to have done this before.

pretty straightforward job

this is pretty straightforward - and shouldn't take more than an hour to complete

here's how I would do it

1. make sure there is an external DNS and MX record setup for the new domain name, pointing to your external IP address (same as the current domain name does)
2. add the new settings to the recipient policy (make sure it's ticked)
3. apply and update the policy, and update the update services, and address book
4. verify that the user accounts have the new addresses assigned to them
5. test that you can send to the new addresses (message tracking to ensure delivery)
6. set the new email address to the primary (send from) address, re-apply, and update
7. tell the boss it took you 2 days, and that you're taking some time off.....
