I would check that you have appropriate version of system file (snippet from MS):

System File Checker Tool

Windows 98 includes a System File Checker tool. You can use this tool to verify the integrity of your operating system files, to restorethem if they are damaged, or to extract compressed files from the Windows 98 CD-ROM. To use System File Checker to extract a compressed file from the Windows 98 CD-ROM, follow these steps:

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.

On the Tools menu, click System File Checker.

krnl32 has to do with display. if explorer is causing page faults then turn your graphics acceleration down a notch or two or even to none. this will not noticeably affect display performance but will increase reliability. the faults happen when windows sends the commands faster than the video card can process them regardless of the amount of ram installed. also if you're getting a lot of faults, put dr watson in your start up folder in your start menu. it will give you even more info about theproblem that caused the fault.
