Exporting Printer Drivers from Windows Server 2003

By Andrew Caple ·
Hi everyone,

I was hoping that someone maybe able to help me or point me in the right direction. I've currently got an issue with a printer driver on a server (a HP LaserJet 4300).

It needs to be a specific driver version from a few years ago (due to some internal applications).

My question is this - the driver is running perfectly on another server. Is it possible to export/backup printer drivers from one server and import them onto another? I've used DriverMax for client workstations before, but don't want to test this on a live server :-)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards ... Andrew

Thanks for getting back to me ... I tried that driver, however the internal programs make "calls" to the print trays.

The new driver doesn't seem to like this a defaults everything to one specific tray.

You could try this

Driver Magician the only bug that I found with it is that you have to install it and insert the code on each PC to be able to use it even to load from our backup. It works well though.

Trying it now ..

Thanks again -- downloading the app now. I just found PrintMig (http://tinyurl.com/2ab4lz) but it restores everything .. including the queues from the other server.

It also doesn't overwrite the driver if the local one is more up to date.
