Failed to generate offline Address Book, error '80072020'

By dfields ·
I am getting the Event I 9300 stating that our Exchange Server is not part of the Exchange Domain Servers group. I verified that in fact it is. I also cannot force rebuild the Offline Address Book. I also, cannot find any resolution through any sites.

To check

by p.j.hutchison In reply to Failed to generate offlin ...

Check the event logs on your DC(s) to make sure replication is working ok and DNS is working ok. It may be in the group on one DC server but not another...

What version of Exchange are you using 2000,2003 or 2007?
Make sure Public Folders are mounted and loaded or CAS web server is available (if 2007). Check configuration and location of OAB using ADSIEDIT.msc tool to view the configuration in its Raw format. Check Microsoft's knowledge base for any solutions.

I found this from expert exchange website forum:

I have fixed it

what one needs to do is pretty simple

Delete the "default offline address book" under

System Manager / Recipients

then recreate it with the exact same name.

After recreating add the default offine address book to mailbox store.

right click the mailbox store in system manager and select the offline address book that you recreated.

Restart exchange system attendant

look in the event viewer under the application log and you will see a healthy log :)

This worked fine for me no more errors in the event viewer.
