I have a my bank’s website that I frequent to download my account information. Suddenly, when I go to the address there is an error page. I have talked to the bank and the site works from there office. I can reach the site from my work but not from home. I have also talked to my ISP and they can not decipher why only this site is no longer available to my computer. I need this site to download financial transactions and now it is the only site that I can not reach. I do not have a firewall and I have Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.0 Cipher 128-bit. Please help!

    Thank you!

Try deleting your Internet Cache. Go to Tools>Internet Options and click delete files.

With IE closed, Find (search for) your Temporary Internet Files and delete everything under this folder. Also delete everything from c:\windows\prefetch (maybe in c:\winnt\prefetch depending on how the system was setup).

Sounds like either thecached files may be corrupt, or that the prefetch needs clearing. It is recommended to clear the Prefetch folder monthly.

Another thing to check may be your virus software. I have found a few sites that do not work correctly if my Ad Blocker is on or my Cookie protection is set too high.

What is the error message that you get when you attempt to access the page? -Matt-

The error says “The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. ” I took a look my virus software, Norton Anti-Virus, and did not see any unusual blocking.

i know its not the ideal solution, with issues of security being the most important but perhaps you could download your account info as a (compressed) file at work then send it to your home email account as an attachment.Or if its compressed enough, you can surely save it to a floppy on the machine you use at work then take your floppy home with you. Obviously, this is a more secure method. Floppies do still have uses . . .

Thank you, I will do this in the meantime but I need a resolution since it is the only website unavailable to my computer.

If you are using AOL, open it first, get online, minimize AOL, then open Internet Explorer and try accessing the site from it. AOL apparently uses a modified IE and doesn’t work well with some sites.

I would try to do a repair on Internet Explorer.
Go to control panel> add remove programs> click on Internet explorer> remove> select repair. Reboot, then try your site again. This has worked for me numerous times. Good luck, Jim
