FD Controller Card Recommendation

By tina.m.miller ·
I have a Gateway Performance III 500mhz tower system with only one ISA slot (which is being used by the modem). A limitation of the chipset on the motherboard allows only one active floppy drive. I want to use both a 3.5" and a 5.25". Can you suggest a controller card (vendor, make, model) which I could use in the new style expansion slot to run both floppy drives? Thanks.

(Current solution seems to be buy an external USB 3.5" FD and cable the 5.25" as the internal FD. That idea irks me!)

This requires an ISA bus - I need a PCI bus connection that will support IDE floppy drives.

I didn't see any products using a PCI bus which supported IDE floppy drives. Thanks anyway.

I agree about USB external drive but it will be inexpensive solution.
Other is to buy Adaptec PCI SCSI with FDD support or buy TEAC SCSI FDD and cheap NCR or Tecram SCSI controller board.

The controller card was a possibility, but you didn't give me enough info to order it and Adaptec hasn't responded to my inquiries for additional info. Will go with the USB 3.5" FD and install the 5.25" FD internally. Thanks.
