File management software

By Rhinosaurus ·
Hi, does anyone know of a software to track changes made to Autocad, Office (etc) to files stored on the server. They should indicate who changed them and also dates.
Thanks.

If this is a Windows 2000 or 2030 file server where they are being stored, you can use the Security Log to monitor that. You will need a LARGE log, if there are a lot of changes each day. You will also need to configure auditing.

Details on setting up auditing are available in the Windows 2000 Security Guide and Windows 2003 Security Guide:

Hi Thanks, but no. That log is too cumbersome. Because of the large number of file modifications, I am looking for a software which can track the modifications made (on the server as well as on the client. The Journal in Outlook 97 onwards can do this, however only if it is opened within the journal itself. So is there a specific program which can do this tracking of files changes made by Autocad, photoshop, etc etc?
