By stratocasius ·
Hello All,

I'm trying to find the best method to share files between two pc's. One is at my house and the other is at the studio. These two pc's are running Win2K Professional, and both have their broadband connection thru a linksys 4-port router. And both are
One Linksys is the wired BEFSR11 4-port, and the other is the wireless WRT54GS Speedbooster. All settings on both routers are set to default, and DHCP.

Any help would obliged...

You have a couple of possible scenarios. Do either of these broadband connections have a static IP Address on the internet? If so the router can be configured to allow Internet traffice through using a specific port. If neither have a static IP on the internet, then you might want to look at something like It essentially using a Citrix client to access a PC.

You could just go for a simple ftp client and server on both machines, if they both have static IPs then easy peasy, just set up the ftp server, allow a user, give them a home dir and a password, open port 21 on the router and off you go!
If they are dynamic IPs then you could also look into something like dydns which the linksys routers support.
